Guy Grip for ADSS Cable with Heavy Duty Outdoor Performance

Guy Grip for ADSS Cable with Heavy Duty Outdoor Performance

Classified as a formed wire design, ADSS Cable Guy Grips are used to secure the soft pliable surface of a drop cable without causing attenuation. Unlike wedge type Dead-ends, the formed wire Dead-end effectively transfers the axial load on the cable at the end of the Dead-end legs to a low uniform radial compression near the dead end loop. This transition of force is distributed over the length of the product thus allowing secure holding capability with minimized pressure on the cable or messenger.

Product Overview: CW-GUY Series – ADSS Cable Guy Grips

Classification: Formed Wire Design

Application: Dead-End / Termination for ADSS Fiber Optic Cables

Description

The CW-GUY Series ADSS Cable Guy Grips are preformed, helical dead-end assemblies designed specifically for securing the soft, pliable surfaces of All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) fiber optic drop cables. Engineered to prevent signal attenuation, these grips provide a reliable and economical termination solution for short spans and low-tension applications in low-voltage environments.

Unlike traditional wedge-type dead-ends, the formed wire design utilizes a unique mechanism to transfer axial tensile loads. The force is gradually transitioned from the high-stress area at the end of the grip legs into a low, uniform radial compression near the dead-end loop. This distribution of force over the product's length ensures maximum holding strength while minimizing pressure and stress on the cable jacket and fibers.

These grips are suitable for use on transmission lines, antenna systems, communication networks, and other guyed structures requiring robust, dielectric termination points.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Attenuation-Free: The smooth, formed wire design prevents kinking or crushing of the cable, ensuring no signal loss.

  • Uniform Stress Distribution: Axial loads are converted into gentle radial compression, protecting the cable's structural integrity.

  • Dielectric Properties: As a non-metallic assembly (when specified), it maintains the electrical isolation properties of ADSS cables.

  • Corrosion Resistance: Manufactured from materials compatible with the installed strand, ensuring longevity and performance.

Material Specifications

ADSS Cable Guy Grips are manufactured from high-quality materials identical to the strand they are applied to, ensuring compatibility and performance. Available material options include:

  • Hot-dip Galvanized Steel

  • Mischmetal Alloy (High-Strength Galvanized)

  • Copperweld

  • Aluminum-Clad Steel

  • Stainless Steel (Type 302 / Type 316)

Note: Material selection should be based on environmental conditions and compatibility requirements.
